Life Hands You Lemons?

While standing in line at the supermarket today, a woman came up as next in line behind me with this bag of lemons. I first said to her: "not a balanced diet" and she replied: "we do what we can" and then I got talking to her a little and she said this is a bag of lemons for the TV show Glee and that these are props for the next BreadstiX scene.

More "Action!" on Lucerne Blvd.

Arriving back on Lucerne Blvd. this morning, the set isn't even there. However there was a nice security guard and he told me that the scene was to be a nighttime shoot.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Dexter. So this is likely to be all that I'll get pix of. The red cone is one of 20 or more, lining the pavement. The wires are for lights and all the other appliances that need electricity.

You Can't Make This Stuff Up

Dear Rounder's Readers:

While I have been secreted out of Hollywood and Los Angeles County for 3 days, I want you to know that I've been busy during that time, obtaining only the best photos for your edification.

This is a headline from the Crestline Courier News, a newspaper in the village of Crestline California. Lake Gregory is in Crestline.

While only a village of 12,000 or so, it has a large number of restaurants, from steaks to sushi.

Crestline is in San Bernardino County California. Most Angelinos call it: San Berdoo (pro.: burdue).

Petrojvik Blasting Company, redux

I caught those Petrojvik Blasting Company boys again, at the Hollywood Farmer's Market on Sunday August 10th. They, were hiding playing their ditties against a wall near the Los Angeles Film School's parking lot. Quite a large crowd gathered and the Farmer's Market Security "guard" was sent over to mind the boys, who in very good nature, took that in stride. In fact, they missed only a few more notes than they would have if the meanest, ugliest woman in Los Angeles hadn't told them they were blocking the driveway. As they are the only musicians that gather a crowd at the Farmer's Market, ever, they should be encouraged.

More importantly, if you are a fan of Petrojvik Blasting and Albania Mania!, you can find them playing free concerts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at the corner of Selma Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard from Midnight until the bars close.

I have included, with the boys permission, their ode to George Clooney.

Hollywood Rounder

Two fires burned out two businesses in Hollywood over the last 10 days (today is Wednesday, April 30, 2008). Off Vine was the first and Basque, at the north-west corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine Street burned this morning around 5:30 am. As with all suspicious fires, the Arson Squad was there, late this afternoon. More pictures of Eva Longoria Parker's restaurant BESO. This afternoon around 5:00 pm, I saw a photo model shoot at the front door. BESO stands on the south-west corner of Hollywood Blvd. at Ivar Street. Ivar St. also has the Hollywood Public Library further south of BESO.










My pix from in and around Hollywood California. I used to put them up on Google Earth, but now I have my own weblog. I hope you find them entertaining. The World Palladium is finally being remodeled after more than 4 decades of decline. I hope the remodeling will reflect more of what Hollywood is supposed to represent. The restaurant: Off Vine, burned down about a week ago. It's address is: 6263 Leland Way, Los Angeles, CA 90028. That's just one block south of Sunset Blvd. and only a few feet east of Vine Street. The Bowery is a small bar and restaurant. Of the three restaurants located on the south side of Sunset Blvd., just east of Vine Street, it is the most interesting looking. Magnolia and Fabiolus, the two restaurants that sandwich the Bowery are a bit larger, though. The tall glass skyscraper was built by Dick Clark of American Bandstand fame. At the time of it's construction, it was the tallest privately owned building in Los Angeles, only the LA City Hall was taller. I could not resist a photo of the Sunset Blvd. bus. That's route number 2, which runs from downtown Los Angeles, all the way out the Pacific Coast Highway.
