A Fish Swims In The Ocean, Unless on the Sidewalk

From an old Three Stooges bubblegum card:

Q. Why are fire engines red?

A. Fire Engines are red because fishes swim in the ocean and fishes have fins, the Finns fought the Russians, the Russians are Red and Fire Engines are rushin' all over.

When I queried the sound man and a gaffer about what was being filmed, I was given the answer of "a short". When I asked: "How short", I received no response.

This is my first installment of parts unknown.

I've hear of Day for Night, but Sidewalk for Water?

Volkswagon Shoot in Hancock Park

While you would never know to look at it, Hancock Park is one of the most photographed sections of Los Angeles. Located near to Hollywood (zipcode 90028), Hancock Park is in zipcodes: 90004 and 90010. It is the nicest upscale neighborhood near to Hollywood short of the Hollywood Hills themselves. This was a very big shoot, with productions trucks on all sides of the intersection (unpictured). The soundman is in the background, just to the left of the vehicle.

More "Action!" on Lucerne Blvd.

Arriving back on Lucerne Blvd. this morning, the set isn't even there. However there was a nice security guard and he told me that the scene was to be a nighttime shoot.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Dexter. So this is likely to be all that I'll get pix of. The red cone is one of 20 or more, lining the pavement. The wires are for lights and all the other appliances that need electricity.
This is for the camera rig and cameraman.

Serra do Boné Loosely Translated Means . . .

I was taking a break (and trying to get a photo of any cute gal) at Bricks & Scones again, today. The special coffee on offer is:

Serra do Boné

At $2.30 (US) per cup that's good money for a cup of joe. Yet, as I scoured the 'net for some info about this bean, I was rewarded with the fact that it won Brazil Cup of Excellence® Competition and Auction - 2006 Edition.

Serra do Boné translates loosely to mean The Mountain's Cap. I see it on the 'net for $18 a pound. Hmmm ... your Rounder wonders how many cups of coffee per pound. I dont' know Portuguese pronunciation so I say it: Ser-ra do Boney.

The Not Forgotten (a movie AND a truck)

I was having a latte at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Not really folks, the Rounder wouldn't regularly touch one of those things. I prefer the French café au lait. None of that weak-sister Italian stuff for me. No sirree Bob. I love the place I found this photo. It's Larchmont Blvd. This was the first -planned by the City- shopping district in LA. It's both lively and yet conservative. By conservative I don't mean in any political sense. The ACLU sends kids to canvas and most of the people in the neighborhood are probably Democrats as the Hancock Park area, which is serviced by Larchmont is notably Hollywood celebs (Gina Davis, Ellen DeGeneris, Anne Heche) and behind-the-scene people, such as writers like Seth Kurland (Friends). These is wealthy folks. And so is the Hancock Park area, where the average home is $2,000,000 or more.

Bronson Avenue in May and June - part 1

The Rounder cannot add words to improve this image. This is Bronson Avenue from near the corner of Clinton Street. The Raleigh Studios are immediately behind us.

The Los Angeles Art Show 2009

Every January, bills are glued to any number of places. This pix is the south east corner of Rosewood Avenue and Arden Blvd. in Hancock Park. Hancock Park qualifies as being the bedroom community of Hollywood. Hollywood itself is largely an apartment glutted area, most of which isn't architecturally charming. Hancock Park is comprised of about 8,500 upscale homes. Within it's environs, is Larchmont Blvd., the first planned shopping street (high street) in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Art Show
