Hollywood Variety Pix

Los Angeles is having it's comic relief from winter. The daytime high temperatures starting Friday (14-Jan-2011) have been in the 80s. (27 C.) and will continue in the mild 70s (~24 C.) this week. The temperate weather has given me time to get out and explore. Hence, without further ado:

Here a fellow wants to go into business. He has posted his offerings on the traffic light standard at Sunset & Vine. 
As he has posted his email account publicly, I hope this post doesn't cause him undue problem. (Are any Rounder Readers spaammers?) That's not a typo, folks.

David Nelson, older brother of Ricky Nelson died last week. David, Ricky, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson appeared on a TV show in the 1950s. The show, eponymously titled: The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, was a slice of American life then. David was portrayed as the more sensible and intellectual brother to Ricky's rock-'n-roll temperament.

This modern Paul Klee-esque building (probably condos) is located at 1141 N. Formosa Avenue in West Hollywood. It is situated amongst much cheaper, older and uglier apartment buildings. It is quite striking to meander down Formosa Avenue and see this building.

This is an update on the billboard advertising on the apartment-retail complex as the north-west corner of Sunset Blvd. and Vine Street.

Wanted Poster "Christopher"

The folks at Sony Pictures have plastered the town with Wanted Posters of Christopher, an illegal alien, escaped from District 9. The Hollywood Rounder does not support the wholesale deportation of illegals, but is considering it this one time. Given the stakes. There are enough ex-hippies, weirdo-s, 'characters' and assorted humbugs in Hollywood for most of the otherwise normal denizens of H'wd., already. Ah! the poster becomes easily readable, by clicking it.

Pedestrial Photo, Sunset & Vine

This is a pedestrian photo of the cross-walk at the middle of the intersection of Sunset Boulevard & Vine Street, Hollywood California. Your Hollywood Rounder apologizes for the pedestrian character of this photo and will endeavor to find better subjects in the future.

Can they really be this BIG?

This building at the south-east corner of Sunset & Vine has been a subject of previous Roundups. At the time of it's construction, it was the tallest building in Los Angeles. Built by Dick Clark, it has a terrible floor plan and probably never made money. Clark sold it and since that time it has been re-sold. The newest owner has converted what was an office builing into a condominium (not a rubber for midgets - condom-minium). The Rounder gets mighty confused by the adverts on the exterior walls, however. Do the condo owner's get to split the rental for the adverts? How does that work?

The photo is a GUESS "girl" in her "natural state of deshabille". That is, she's got her blouse unbuttoned enough to see breasts at least 20 feet tall!!

Rejuvinates the American Economy

One of the unusual aspects of living in Hollywood is the entertainment industry advertising. You see it on bus benches, buses, billboards and occasionally on street lamp standards. This photo, is shot from the north-west corner of Sunset Blvd. & Vine St. While it's illegal to use public property to advertise commercial or non-commercial events, the police usually take no notice. Unless it's egregious. Dwayne Leftridge's humorous advert, here is not the egregious kind. Go Dwayne (even though I have no idea of who you are)
