Joel and Ethan Coen's HAIL CESAR

I caught the end of a location shoot today, while on my way to the market to buy the makings for Clam Chowder.

These photos, taken along Santa Monica Blvd. in what is truly one of the seediest parts of Hollywood. The actual hotel is run down. The street is full of cheap goods sellers. It has been this way for over 40 years.

As I came down Virginia Avenue, I saw this:

These beautiful old vehicles are for a feature film: Hail Cesar

Sleazy bar in real life called Gold Diggers Entertainment

"Hotel" is stretching it.

This is a close to down scale as it can get in Los Angeles.

Extras at Red Studios for Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Biel & Scarlett Johansson Hitchcock flic

As I was going to buy some cookies I saw a group of extras being outfitted for an as yet, un-named Alfred Hitchcock movie. It will star Sir Anthony Hopkins (I say Sir, even though he is an American citizen and lives in Malibu), Jessica Biel (soon to be Mrs. Timberlake I hear) and Scarlett Johansson.

Here are the extras, in line, waiting to go "on set".
