Throwback (All the Way) Thrusday

I regularly watch the TV show: Suburgatory.

One of the main characters is Dalia Royce. Dalia is portrayed by Carly Chaikin. Carly uses Twitter. She tweeted from the Starbuck's at Hollywood and Vine recently, saying: "a guy is using a typewriter . . ." I believe she was quite surprised to see this. She is young enough to have never seen more than pictures of typewriters.

So, as I was surprised to see the same person, a week after Carly's tweet, still sitting at the Starbuck's at Hollywood and Vine. I thought you, mighty Reader, would like to see what see saw.

Call of Duty - Video Game at Hollywood & Vine

Left Turn, March!
There were 2 of these. I was only able to get the camera up & focused for this, the 2nd.

Border's Books and I Am Number Four Advertising

I read that Borders Bookstores are in bankruptcy and am happy to say that the store at Sunset Blvd. and Vine Street is staying open. This first pix is Borders Books at the north west corner of the intersection of Sunset and Vine, Hollywood, California. I am standing at the Nickelodeon Theater.

Borders' has an outside patio. As well as an inside seating area with a Seattle's Best Coffee (shop). This picture shows both and I thought it rather a novel view of the bookstore.

After taking the Borders' pix, I wandered up to Ivar at Selma and what to my wondering eyes, beheld:

Someone was standing outside, smoking and I asked to take this photo and got permission (not legally necessary, but politeness dictates asking) and was given a sweatshirt (hoody) and a unusually large poster for the movie. This was courtesy of the oddly named 43Kix, which is an advertising and p.r. firm. If you are planning to visit Hollywood and have an SMS or text messaging capable cellphone and don't mind sharing that with them, you can find free passes to movies and other bling-bling goodness.

A Week of Darkness - part 3

The Boulevard gets closed for a premiere. This closing is either at the El Capitan or across the street at the Chinese. This photo was taken at Vine and Hollywood, nearly half-a-mile away from Highland Avenue, where the Capitan & Chinese are.

Your Rounder has forgotten the name of the movie already. He has not been sleeping well. Too much party?

Crane Your Neck

If you crane your neck, you will see the removal of the crane (with another crane) from the top of the W Hotel building, currently under construction. Despite this being about mundane events, it was quite a sight to see this work taking place. This photo is taken from the north-west corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine St. The east bound lane of the Boulevard was closed, just after Vine.

Basque - a Hollywood Night Club (sort of)

This is the northwest corner of the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. & Vine Street. The see-through fence is all that is left. It is now a vacant lot, but a year ago or more was the night club where Lindsay Lohan had her 21st birthday party. The building caught fire and was eventually razed to the ground. Or maybe below ground, I haven't walked by there close enough to see. Click on the photo for a better view.
