The north side of the old Farmer's Market

This shot is taken from nearly the middle of the path along the trolley tracks, but west of the Taschen bookstore. So, I'm standing in the parking lot. This scene shows the other magazine rack. I say other because I like the magazine rack on the south side better. Under the Farmer's Market sign is Johnny Rocket's, a faux hamburger stand. Don't misunderstand, Johnny Rocket's is a real restaurant. You can get a 'burger, fries and a milkshake there. The decor is faux. It is made to look like a diner or hamburger joint from the 1950s. As I was a young man in the 50s, I saw the real deal. Rocket's isn't that. If the quality of Johnny Rocket's food made up for the decor I would like it more, but it doesn't. If you are reading this, are a tourist, and want a great 'burger, try McCormick & Schmick's in Beverly Hills. For $1.95 you get a cheeseburger & fries. (HAPPY HOUR MENU ONLY)

  1. The last time I was at the Farmer's Market was probably 1949...I was much younger then. Lived at Pico and Fairfax, which as I recall, wasn't all that far away. I do remember that I loved the Farmer's Market!
